Newport Police Arrest Two Sex Offenders in One Night
The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Newport police arrested two convicted first-degree sex offenders Monday night. The incidents were not connected.
Police arrested Bishop Lombard, 20, of Cranston, who was identified on the Rhode Island's Most Wanted list was arrested at 10:50 p.m. for failing to notify Cranston Police of a change of address. Read the full story here.
Jason Abdullah, 28, of an unknown address, was arrested at 9:50 p.m. for failing to notify police of an address change and for four warrants from superior bench warrant. Abdullah was convicted of first-degree child molestation.

Police said he had been living at Motel 6 in Newport and had a good rapport with probation. Police said that on March 28, his roommate, who was also a sex offender, reportedly told the sexual offender specific probation officer that he believed Abdullah had gone to Virginia Beach. He said Abdullah was expecting a $10,000 tax return in March, which he believes was used to buy a car.
Police responded to their room at the Motel 6 and did not find any of Abdullah’s belongings. On Monday, Oct. 28, police responded the Festival Field Apartment complex on another matter and found Abdullah inside an apartment.
