Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge Closed Due to Government Shutdown

Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge will be closed due to the government shutdown.

All National Wildlife Refuges in Rhode Island, including  Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge in Middletown will be closed to the public due to government shutdown.

Public access to service properties will be prohibited and fish and wildlife management activities and public programs will be cancelled.

For programs that experience a lapse in appropriated funding, only limited functions would continue, such as those necessary to respond to emergencies and to protect human life or property.

Even the Facebook page for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been shut down. On Tuesday morning they posted, "Due to a lapse of government funding, this account will not be active until further notice."
