Woman Allegedly Embezzles $7.9K From Bank

The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Susan Skipper, 43, of 95 Bliss Road, was arrested Monday on a felony charge of embezzlement by a bank officer or employee. Police said she was employed at First Command Financial Services as an administrative assistant and office manager. She allegedly made 58 unauthorized transfers that totaled $7,880 from her office account to her personal checking account.  

It is alleged she also made four unauthorized charges for her personal cell phone bill and insurance payments. After she was terminated, she allegedly asked her boss to approve a false unemployment claim.

Addison Caproni, 26, of 120 John Street Apt. #7 was arrested on Monday around 4:55 p.m. on charges of drinking and driving. He was also cited with refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police said Caproni was trying to kick start a Yamaha Chappy scooter several times until it fell over. Police said he drove away and drove against traffic on Thames Street. He failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, said police.
