Man Arrested After Allegedly Urinating at Beach in Front of Children

The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  • Kenneth Howley, 32, of 57 Toppa Blvd, was arrested around 8:16 p.m. Wednesday for urinating in public. Police said there was a complaint about people drinking and littering at Bailey’s Beach East (Rejects Beach). Howley was allegedly urinating on the fence in plain view of  two small children that were sitting on a blanket. He reportedly told police “I know that was stupid."
  • Mark McVay, 54, 118 Harrison Ave. Apt #2D, was arrested Wednesday for domestic assault with a deadly weapon, three counts of domestic vandalism, domestic threats and possession of marijuana. He allegedly smashed his female roomate's dish with a hammer, struck her thigh with a hammer and threw her laptop off the balcony.  McVay also allegedly keyed her car as she drove by.  Police said she showed several threatening texts messages sent by McVay.
  • Alexander Arcila, 22, of 72 Reservior Apt. #11, Pawtucket, was arrested around 10:40 p.m. on two bench warrants from the Second District Court and a warrant Superior Court.  
  • Jennifer Evans, 26, of 66 Malbone Road, was arrested on Thursday around 1:30 a.m. on domestic vandalism or refusal to relinquish telephone.  She allegedly showed up at her ex-boyfriends house despite a no contact order.  She allegedly threw her ex-boyfriend’s phone on the ground after he said he was going to call the police.  

Open Containers

  • Michael Bourque, of 44 Memorial Blvd. West, was cited around 8:08 p.m. Wednesday for an open container
  • Richard Mounts, 38, of 15 Meetings Street and Joseph Gallagher, 21, of 42 Sherman Street, were cited Wednesday for open containers outside of Brick Alley Pub.
