Tender Care Learning Center Introduces New Administration at Open House

Meet the center's new administrators, tour the new facilities, and learn about their programs on Wednesday, December 21 from 3 to 8 p.m.

Parents, care givers, teachers, and all members of the general public are invited to a Holiday Open House being held in celebration of the Grand Opening of the Tender Care Learning Center at 38 Marcus Wheatland Boulevard. Meet the center’s new administrators, tour the new facilities, learn about their programs and enjoy light refreshments in a festive holiday setting. The event is being held on Wednesday, December 21 from 3 to 8 p.m.

The Tender Care Learning Center (TCLC) is the only child care facility in the area offering extended hours (6:30 am to 11 pm – 7 days a week!) and transportation to and from the center from home or school. They offer diverse and multicultural programs for children from 18 months to 5 years of age. Certified educators and trained staff members direct a comprehensive education schedule with balanced meals and snacks provided throughout the day. Their prices are affordable and DHS reimbursement is accepted.

Veronica Bourget brings a wealth of knowledge and several years of related community service experience to her new position as Director of Administration at the center. She has served as a family services coordinator for the Newport County Mental Health Center, as a coordinator for rehousing programs at Family Service of Rhode Island and at Child & Family Service of Newport County as assistant program manager of their semi-independent living residential program. Veronica recently stated, “I look forward to developing and providing comprehensive educational daycare and after-school programs to the diverse population of Newport County. I hope to also provide supportive social service programs to parents and other community based groups.” Adding, “I am pleased to work for a center that understands childcare needs beyond daycare. There are so many parents taking night classes or working second shift in the hospitality, manufacturing, or other industries who need care for their children during evening hours and on weekends.”

Jessica Jenkins, who works as the Director of Operations, had this to say about working at TCLC, “I am pleased to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our community’s youth. It feels great to use my education and skills to better the quality of their care outside of the home.” Jessica brings four years of professional child care experience to her position while she is working on her Masters of Education through Phoenix University. As a licensed minister of the Community Baptist Church she is active in ministries for children as well as teen girls and young adult women.

The new administrative staff has two additional key members. Head teacher, Kristine Bettencourt, has a Master’s Degree in special education and several years of experience in the educational field. Mrs. Rockelle Jones, the After-School Program Coordinator has a Degree in Education for grades one to six and over 20 years of educational experience. She has been part of the Newport School System for many years.
