Mike Cullen
Civic activist; STEAM education champion; likely 2014 candidate for Newport School Committee
I recently retired for a global IT solutions company where I worked for 23 years as a software business developer and solutions architect addressing the needs of federal agencies. Earlier in life I was an Air Force navigator/weapons officer flying at "warp speed" aboard the F-111 fighter-bomber. Have lived in Newport since 1992 and have been active on boards with several city groups -- the city's police & fire pension funds, the Point Association, Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation, Newport Public Educ Foundation. Am currently active with the RI STEAM Academy charter school project, NewportReady, and Cub Scout Pack 77 as a den leader.  My main hobby is amateur radio (call sign K1NPT) and helping our 10 year old son with his many Minecraft software projects. My wife of 26 years, Beth, has 300+ year RI roots and is also active on the civic scene.
