The following obituary is from Memorial Funeral Home. Theodore “Teddy” Gomes Oliveira, Jr., 17, of Newport died on August 27, 2012 in Newport. Born on July 6, 1995 in Newport, RI, he was the son of Theodore G. Oliveira, Sr. of Maine and Sloane Z. Massey of Pawtucket, RI. Teddy was later adopted by Deborah A. (Massey) Greene of Newport, RI. Teddy grew up in Newport and attended Cranston Calvert Elementary School, Thompson Junior High School and was entering his senior year at Rogers High School. To read the full obituary, click here. The Newport Buzz Crew will be accepting donations to help with Teddy Oliviera's funeral costs today at Mokka Coffee House
The Newport Buzz will hold a donation drive for Teddy Oliviera's funeral costs today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mokka Coffee House. “We encourage all of our friends, fans, supporters, local biz's, and the community to stop by and make a donation by cash or check in any amount you can to help cover the cost of Teddy's Funeral,” Ryan Belmore shared on Newport Patch's Facebook page. “This young man and this family deserve a proper ceremony. We will then hand deliver all donations to the funeral home.” Donations are also being accepted at Memorial Funeral Home.

Friends of Teddy Oliviera and his family have requested donations to cover financial costs for his funeral, the NewportBuzz reports. Checks should be sent to Debbie Green c/o Eileen Quinn. “We will be trying to get all of the costs taken care of for [Green],” Quinn wrote on her Facebook page on Tuesday. “I love Teddy as [if] he was my own child.” Donations can be brought to Memorial Funeral Home or made over the phone. A body was found in Newport Harbor that matches the description of missing teen Teddy Oliviera.
A body was recovered near the East tower of the Pell Bridge Monday morning at approximately 11:43 a.m., Newport Police announced in a release this afternoon. The body found was of a young black male, with clothing and a tattoo matching Theodore "Teddy" Oliviera's description. He was reported missing since Aug. 28. Passing boaters spotted the body, who then reported it to the Harbor Master. Newport Police Detectives, Rhode Island State Police and the Newport Harbor Master responded and retrieved the body. Rhode Island State Police had resumed a search for the missing teenager on Sunday after the Coast Guard had suspended it last Friday. The Medical Examiner's office will be conducting an autopsy. The community gathered at King Park on Wednesday to remember Oliviera and pray for his safe return home.
Family, friends and supporters joined together at King Park on Wednesday for a vigil for missing teen Theodore “Teddy” Oliviera, who was last seen late Monday night, WPRI.com reports. "It's just hard," Jasmine Valdes said tearfully on Wednesday night, "He needs to come home. I miss him so much." Read the full report here.
