"Shred-a-Thon” At the Middletown Police Station on Tuesday

Today's event is open to the public and is free of charge.

After the tremendous success of previous years’ consumer “shred-a-thons” throughout Rhode Island, Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin is partnering with the Middletown Police Department to bring a “shred-a-thon” to Middletown on Tuesday, March 5 to celebrate this year’s National Consumer Protection Week. When: Tuesday, Mar. 5, 12:00pm – 2:00pm Where: Middletown Police Department, located at 123 Valley Road. Who: The shred-a-thon is free and open to the public. 'Shred-a-Thon' to Help Islanders Avoid Identity Theft

Aquidneck Island residents are invited to bring their confidential documents to the Middletown Police Station to be securely shredded.

As part of the 14th annual National Consumer Protection Week, Aquidneck Island residents can bring confidential documents to the Middletown Police Station tomorrow, March 8, between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m., to be securely shredded.   Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin and the Middletown Police Department are hosting the “shred-a-thon” event. The Middletown Police Department urges everyone to participate in the program. “Identity theft crimes are an ever-increasing problem for law enforcement and the people we serve,” said Middletown Police Chief Anthony Pesare. “Criminals have become proficient in obtaining personal information from materials people discard and using that information to commit crimes.” Pesare said the event provides an…
