The company-wide blackout is to honor the memory of those killed last Friday in Connecticut.
According to Techcrunch, "The campaign was inspired by a call for a moment of silence by Connecticut’s Governor, and spearheaded by Causes and SV Angel. It follows a coalition of tech leaders calling for more gun control." Other companies likely taking part in the "Web Moment of Silence" include Adobe, Duke University, Salesforce and WillCall. The Salve Regina University community came together to create a memorial for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Salve Regina University students, faculty and created a memorial on Monday for the victims of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Rich O’Neill, general carpenter in the university’s facilities office, constructed the crosses honoring the victims. The memorial was installed on the lawn outside the Salve Regina chapel. Newtown began saying goodbye Monday to the victims of the Dec. 14 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, a long and sad process of obituaries, wakes and funerals expected to last throughout the week. As we read these final farewells, we are moved to help in some way. Below is a list of the charitable contributions identified by some of the victims' families. Officials in Newtown, CT, say they're trying to reunite parents with their children in the wake of a shocking reported shooting at an elementary school in the town’s Sandy Hook neighborhood. First Selectman Pat Llodra told Patch that there is no information being released about the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting — only confirming that there was a shooting.
