ALLY Foundation Fundraises for Murdered Newport Woman

Ten years after Newport woman Alexandra Zapp, 30, was murdered at a Massachusetts rest stop, her mother is keeping her memory alive through The ALLY Foundation. The foundation, which works to end sexual violence across the country, has launched a fundraiser in Boston with a $300,000 goal to establish The ALLY Institute at RAND Corporation, WCVB.com reports. Zapp was coming home from a charity event in Boston when Paul Leahy, a repeat sex offender, stabbed her 27 times. “The ALLY Foundation and the ALLY Institute at RAND build evidence that contributes to best practices to eradicate sexual violence and catalyzes innovation and informed responses to this complex problem,” the ALLY Foundation’s website says. “The ALLY Institute is the first …
