'Fighting' Irish Take on Polo Team USA This Weekend

The match begins at 5 p.m. at Glen Farm this Saturday.

The "fighting" Irish polo team will make its 21st consecutive appearance this Saturday, July 7, at 5 p.m., before an anticipated record crowd at the Newport International Polo Series.  The Irish team journeys each year from the Wicklow Polo Club south of Dublin on the Irish Sea. Playing for Ireland will be the top female player in Ireland, Siobhan Herbst and company. Dan Keating, polo series founder added, “The Irish team is the only one with a track record of consecutive appearances dating back to our inaugural season. We thank Michael Herbst and the Wicklow Polo Club for bringing competitive teams year after year. With only three weeks left in the 2010 International Polo Series, J. Mclaughlin has just the right options for you to dress right for the event and through the fall.

While many of our favorite summer activities disappear when Labor Day arrives, there is one that still has a few weeks to go. The popular Newport International Polo Series at Glen Farm take place on Saturdays at 4 p.m. throughout September and are always a nice, relaxing way to spend a weekend afternoon. Of course, going to polo and looking good seem to go hand in hand. For the perfect outfit, we headed over to J. McLaughlin on Bellevue Avenue. Many of their clothing options have an equestrian flair, while still being great everyday items. We chose pieces that could easily be layered during this season of wide-ranging temperatures.
