Earlier this year when Facebook changed to the new Timeline layout, Newport Patch held a contest and let readers to submit photos that captured the spirit of Newport to be used as the cover photo. We want to continue to highlight Newport's artistic talent as the seasons change on our Facebook page. From now until Sunday, Jan. 6 we'll be accepting winter-themed submissions for a cover photo for us to use on Newport Patch's Facebook page. Whether it's a photo of a historic building, the harbor or people just going about their day, we want to see your take on Newport. Tom Harris' photo of the Newport Bridge captured the most votes in our Facebook Timeline cover photo contest.
Congratulations to Tom Harris, who submitted the winning picture for our Facebook Timeline cover photo contest! Tom's photo will now grace the cover of Newport Patch's Facebook page. His stunning shot of the Newport Bridge captured the eyes (and votes) of our readers and gained him a whopping 227 votes. March 30 is here, which means that Newport Patch's Facebook page has made the switch over to Facebook Timeline. With Timeline, our Facebook page now features a cover photo. We asked our readers to submit their pictures as a potential cover photo and we’ve selected our favorite submissions. Now it’s up to you. View our gallery to the right and cast your vote for the picture you think should be the first to grace the cover of our Facebook page. The voting will be open until 9 a.m. Monday morning, when we'll announce the winner. We’ll rotate the photos from time to time. A big thank you to everyone who submitted!

Many are up in arms over the social media schism that is the Facebook timeline. Whether you like it or hate it, Facebook's changing over to this new layout ... including Newport Patch's page, starting March 30.
