Newport Police Log: Man Violates No Contact Order; Arrested

Newport Woman Arrested for Drinking in Public Katie E. Burns, 25, of 44 Friendship Street in Newport, was arrested around 8:22 a.m. Wednesday for drinking in public. An officer was on patrol driving through the intersection of Broadway and Friendship Street when he noticed Burns drinking from an open container. According to reports, she went to take a sip and when she noticed the cruiser she hid it beneath her coat. When questioned by police she said she was "just holding it for someone." Police issued a $1,000 fine and summons to appear in court on November 11. The remaining alcohol was disposed of. Man Arrested in Police Station for Violating No Contact Order Matthew G.
