State Police Holiday "Click It or Ticket" Yields More Than 200 Seatbelt Violations

The following are enforcement results for this year's State Police Thanksgiving Click It or Ticket campaign.

Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety, announced today that during the Thanksgiving Day Holiday period, the Rhode Island State Police joined state and local police across the nation in the “Click-It or Ticket” campaign. The Rhode Island State Police deployed additional patrols throughout the State with funding obtained through the Rhode Island Department of Transportation Office on Highway Safety. These additional patrols targeted speeders, drunk and drugged drivers, as well as child restraint and seat belt violators. Newport Police Join 'Click It or Ticket' Mobilization

The police department will join the seat belt enforcement mobilization from March 13 to March 24.

The Newport Police Department has released the following information. The Newport Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates all across the country for the 2012 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization, from March 13 to March 24. During the mobilization, officers will be ticketing motorists who fail to wear their seat belts both day and night. Because nighttime passenger vehicle occupants are among those least likely to buckle up and most likely to die in crashes when unrestrained, nighttime enforcement has become a priority of the Click It or Ticket mobilization.
