The growing Alex and Ani brand announced another expansion.
Alex and Ani CEO Giovanni Feroce yesterday announced the official launch of Seven Swords Media. In March of 2012, Alex and Ani, LLC. purchased a majority interest in MediaPeel, LLC., which formed the basis of Seven Swords Media. Since that announcement, Alex and Ani has purchased the remaining shares of MediaPeel, thus acquiring the agency as a wholly owned subsidiary. Alex and Ani has two ads that were shot in Newport playing during the Superbowl.
Superbowl Sunday is just as well known for its commercial breaks as it is for football. If you pay close attention, you might see some familiar backgrounds during ads for Alex and Ani. The commercials were shot over the course of three days at Belcourt of Newport, and will air during both the pre-game show and the Superbowl. David Bettencourt directed both ads, which feature behind the scenes footage and music by Alex and Ani artist Colour of London with Jimmie Allen. Overall, the commercials cost roughly $2 million, Alex and Ani CEO Giovanni Feroce said. Watch the ads above or here and here.

The Alex and Ani owned company recently purchased People's Cafe.
In a deal that closed on the last day of 2012, Teas and Javas bought People’s Café on Thames Street. Come tourist season, the new shop will open across the street from its parent company Alex and Ani. While there are no official dates yet, Teas and Javas is expected to open around Memorial Day. Teas and Javas has also opened up shop in Wayland Square in Providence and Chapel View in Cranston. Both have Alex and Ani stores nearby. Alex and Ani founder and majority owner Carolyn Rafaelian announced she bought Belcourt Mansion in Newport for more than $3 million. "I have a love affair with Newport. I've fallen completely in love with Belcourt," Rafaelian said in a release. "I am fascinated by its rich history and roots and it's a true honor to have the blessing from Mrs. Tinney to continue the legacy. I look forward to restoring it to its natural beauty." Rafaelian bought the mansion from the Tinney family and she intends on renovating it and continue to operate it for tours, weddings and "an array of charity based social events reflecting [her] vision for the historical mansion," the release stated.
