Newport Storm Party to Benefit Community Center

"Hoppy Holidays," the brewery's largest party of the year, helps stock the center's pantry.

Have a cup of cheer Saturday to help others have a more cheerful Christmas.

Newport Storm Brewery is hosting its largest brewery party of the year, offering tours of the brewery and Thomas Tew Rum Distillery, tastings of beer and hard cider in a souvenir glass and face time with the brew master and master distiller to learn all you wanted to know about making the spirits. While the drinks are strictly for adults, the kiddies are welcome at the party. Soft cider will be available for them, and Santa Claus is expected to be on hand for their last-minute gift requests.

The fourth annual party is to benefit the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center. All attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the center. The party at the brewery, 293 JT Connell Highway, is scheduled for noon-5 p.m. Saturday, with Santa scheduled to arrive around 4 for a reading of "The Night Before Christmas."

Admission is $10 at the door for adult. Kids are free. The party is an open house; feel free to swing by any time. Parking is limited, so the brewery recommends parking at the nearby Newport Visitor's Center, 23 America's Cup Ave.
