Volunteers Needed for St. Patrick's Parade Day Cleanup

Merchants along entire parade route asked to pitch in.

The city is looking for volunteers to help clean up after the St. Patrick's Day parade.

For years, the Brick Alley Pub has organized a cleanup and this year, the Newport Energy and Environment Commission is hoping to expand on it and extend the cleanup to cover the entire parade route, which runs from the Police Station and ends at Rogers High School.

According to a release, merchants all along the parade route are being sought to join a volunteer clean-up effort on Sunday morning, March 16th at 9 a.m.

Volunteer teams will be given bags for collecting litter. Clean recyclables will be collected separately so they can be recycled rather than thrown away.

To volunteer to clean up outside your business, please call Kristin Littlefield at 845-5642 or send her an email at klittlefield@cityofnewport.com.
