A New Day at the Edward King House

Hello Friends,

I am so honored to have been offered the opportunity to serve the vibrant senior community that is the heart and soul of the Edward King House.  My name is Carmela Geer and I couldn't be more excited to embark upon this new adventure as Captain of this fantastic ship of possibilities.  Together, we can look forward to learning about the world and each other in a warm and inviting environment.  I am eager to learn all I can about the history of the King House and about each every one of you.  So, let's get started with my introduction. I come to you with close to thirty years of experience in family advocacy, education and administration.  I am married (husband, Brian) with 3 children (Devin, Anthony and Liam) and the fifth love of my life is my American Cocker Spaniel, Bella.  I believe in community, doing the right thing over being right and the spirit of fun.  We can leave the rest of the details for when I meet you next.

For over 45 years The Edward King House Senior Center has served a vital role in the community by meeting the ever-changing needs of the senior population.  Through our diverse variety of classes, programming, performances and club activities we offer members age fifty and older the ability to network, learn and find friendship.

As a frequent destination for Newport County seniors, the King House serves as a hub for personal enrichment insuring access to a well rounded quality of life and a reliable resource for individual and family referrals regarding senior issues. The King House sees an average of four hundred visitors on a weekly basis (16,000-18,000 yearly) and fields a large volume of calls daily seeking support services. Based upon the growing population of seniors, we can expect this number to increase dramatically over the next several years.

Feel free to contact us at 401-846-7426 or at info@edwardkinghouse.org .

Looking forward to meeting you at the threshold,
Carmela
