Just after dark, right around 9:15 p.m., Newport Harbor will be lit aglow with streaming spikes of fire as the City-by-the-Sea celebrates both Independence Day and its 375th Anniversary.

The best views come from anywhere along Newport Harbor, facing west.

If you plan on going, be aware that public restrooms will be available at King Park, the Harbormaster building at Perrotti Park and the Mary Street parking lot.

There will also be portable restrooms at Storer Park, Perrotti Park and King Park.

Before the fireworks, there will be a number of music performances throughout the city's parks, so the reward for coming early is about more than just beating traffic. Concerts are planned at King Park, Queen Anne's Square and Storer Park.

The fireworks will be launched by Atlas Pyrovision Productions of Jaffrey, NH.

The show was sponsored by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority, New York Yacht Club, Waste Management, Newport Grand, National Grid, the Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina, the Preservation Society of Newport County, Savings Institute Bank and Trust, Newport Oil Paintings—Seaside Gallery, Newport Beach Hotel & Suites and SP+ Standard Parking.

Additional sponsors include: Aardvark Antiques, The Barking Crab, Brick Alley Pub, Bowen’s Wharf Co., Conanicut Marine Services, Discover Newport, The Fastnet Pub, Fifth Ward Liquor, Ida Lewis Yacht Club, Dr. and Mrs. George Kates, Laura Jean, Mrs. Frances Leary, The Narragansett Ltd., The Newport Fudgery, Newport Hardware, Newport Shipyard, Oldport Marine, One Pelham East/Studio 3, Papers, Peter and Judith Rector, The Red Parrot Restaurant, Roger King Fine Arts, Rotary Shell, Salve Regina University and the Vanderbilt Grace Hotel.
