Newport Fireworks Delayed to Saturday, July 5

The threat of rain and wind has pushed the traditional fireworks display over Newport Harbor to Saturday.

Due to the threat of rain and wind on July 4, the City of Newport has announced the traditional fireworks display over Newport Harbor has been postponed to July 5.

City officials were busy studying weather forecasts all morning.

Aside from the delay, all other details remain the same.

The fireworks show begins after it is dark enough for the show to be seen which is anticipated to be 9:15 PM and lasts approximately 25 minutes. Atlas Pyrovision of Jaffrey, NH, will be supplying the pyrotechnics.

The location of the shoot will allow only limited public access, so best viewing is anywhere along Newport Harbor, facing west. Public restrooms will be open at King Park, the Harbormaster building at Perrotti Park and at the Mary Street Parking Lot until after the fireworks are completed. Portable restrooms will be available at Storer Park, Perrotti Park and King Park.
