Cranston Olympian Unfazed by Terror Threats in Sochi

Marissa Castelli and her skating partner, Simon Shnapir, focused on training rather than security.

Simon Shnapir and Marissa Castelli refuse to get distracted during their quest for Olympic gold.

That includes the terror threats the host city of the Winter Olympics, Sochi, has been investigating.

The reigning U.S. Pairs Figure Skating champions are just too pumped to think about anything else.

"We're so excited. This is a dream come true," Castelli, 23, a Cranston, R.I., told WCVB.

"We're still kind of on cloud nine from our championship win just a few weeks ago here in Boston," added Simon, a Sudbury native and Lincoln-Sudbury Regional HIgh School alum.

With the Winter Games just a few weeks away, the pair is focusing on training, not security.

"We're putting our trust into the U.S. and obviously the Russian security over there. And it's gonna be great," Shanpir said. "We're going there to represent our country proudly, and our focus is our training and our competition, and that's it."
