There will be no school for Newport Public School students Wednesday thanks to a winter storm that could bring substantial snow fall throughout the region.
There is also a parking ban that went into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday and will last until further notice.
City Hall will open Wednesday but a few hours later than normal. Offices should be open by noon.
Also closed on Wednesday is the Newport Naval War College and the Martin Luther King Community Center.
At Naval Station Newport, only essential staff are to report until noon Wednesday.
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center has a delayed opening until 11:45 a.m. and the Flexitour has been cancelled.
At the Naval health clinic, there is a delayed opening with staff reporting at noon.
