News Flash....Bike Newport dodges questions about operating budget and salaries...

Bike Newport denied my request for information.  Why would a non-profit want to keep information from the public?  Most, if not all non profits, show the requested information (salaries, operating budget, mission statement) on their web sites.  Why is Bike Newport different?

So...Bike Newport, the questions remain:

--What is your operating budget?

--What are the salaries of your staff?  Are those salaries in line with other non profit organizations?

--What was the hiring procedure for  the current Executive Director?  Would that "procedure" pass inspection from an independent third party?

--What is your mission statement?

--How is it that Bike Newport, in ONE hour, did the following: advertised for the ED position, accepted requests to interview, interview the candidate, hire a candidate... all in ONE hour? That is either amazing efficiency or backdoor deal making at an embarrassing level.

Non Profit Organizations exist to help the public good and do that through a policy of transparency.  Bike Newport is NOT SEAL TEAM SIX!  What is to hide?  What's your budget?  How much goes to salaries?  How does that compare to the national average for non profits of this size?

There are more questions for Bike Newport, but don't hold your breath waiting for a response.

Sincerely,

Chuck Albrecht
