Wednesday: City Council Meeting and Community Forum on Haiti

A look at what's happening in and around Newport today.

  1. is holding an for prospective students from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

The will host a Community Forum on at 6 p.m. The forum will feature three local women, Gail Alofsin, Colleen Hopkins, and Kate Whitney Lucey who have all volunteered in Haiti both before and after the devastating earthquake through the Haitian Health Foundation and who will discuss what has been done and what still needs to be done.
  3. The Newport City Council will hold a regularly scheduled meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at .
  4. The will host , an opportunity for artists to come together to paint or draw a still life scene offered by the refuge. No instruction is provided and all levels are welcome. The program begins at 10 a.m. and participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. Participation is free.
  5. The Middletown Recreation Department’s will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. at . Participants must be 18 years or older and the cost is $5 per session or $20 for a season pass.
