Trash Collection Delayed Due to Storm

Trash collection will be delayed due to the New Year's holiday and the snow storm.

Newport trash and recycling collection routes will be postponed due to the snow storm.

Collections for regular Thursday and Friday collection days were already delayed by one day due to the New Year’s Day holiday on Wednesday. Waste Management will not operate on Friday, Jan. 3, therefore, routes will be as follows:

  • Regular Thursday collection/delayed day of Friday, Jan. 3, will be collected on Saturday, Jan. 4.
  • Regular Friday collection/delayed day of Saturday, Jan. 4, will be collected on Monday, Jan. 6.

Collection for Monday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 10, will be delayed by one day, as if there was a Monday holiday. Collection that would normally take place on Monday, Jan. 6 will be picked up on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and so on for the remainder of the week.

As snow cleanup may also take place on Saturday, Jan. 4, regular Thursday collection stops should not place trash barrels and recycling bins in the street so they do not block plow trucks from safely removing snow.
