Trash Collection Delayed Due to Snowstorm

Here is the revised schedule for the week of Jan. 21:

Newport trash and recycling collection routes will be postponed due to the snowstorm, according to the Newport Clean City Program.


Trash & recycling collections for this week were already delayed by one day due to the Martin Luther King Day holiday on Monday. Waste Management will not operate on Wednesday, January 22, therefore, routes will be as follows:

  • Regular Tuesday collection/delayed day of Wednesday will be collected on Thursday, January 23 (two day delay).
  • Regular Wednesday collection/delayed day of Thursday will be collected on Friday, January 24 (two day delay).
  • Regular Thursday collection/delayed day of Friday, January 24, will be collected on Saturday, January 25 (two day delay).
  • Regular Friday collection/delayed day of Saturday, January 25, will be collected on Monday, January 27.

Collection for Monday, January 27 through Friday, January 31, will be delayed by one day, as if there was aMonday holiday. Collection that would normally take place on Monday, January 27 will be picked up onTuesday, January 28, and so on for the remainder of the week.

As a reminder, please do not place trash barrels and recycling bins in the street so they do not block plow trucks from safely removing snow. Barrels and recycling bins could also get frozen into the snow bank, blocking collection crews from collecting material.
