Round Two: Who Do You Think Won The Debate?

Did Obama redeem himself? Was Romney as masterful as in the first debate?

The town-hall-style debate at Hofstra University Tuesday night proved much more combative than the first debate between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Obama, who was roundly panned for his performance in Denver Oct. 3, came out much stronger, but Romney was equally forceful.

So, who won? Was it enough for Obama to do better? Or was Romney's ability to stay the course the deciding factor?

Let us know in the comments section below, and share your favorite debate moment.

I think Mr Doherty did, and his last answer of the night that he will do everything he can to STOP the tolls on the Sakonett River Bridge shows that at least someone cares about Newport County. Dem, Rep, Indepedant , I don't care anyone who is willing to help this county from having our taxpayer dollar siphoned off to the GA and upstate has my 100% backing, We need every hand we can get to reverse this job killing, money grabbibg, repeat of Studio 38, these tolls get put in place and Newport County taxpayers will bear 85% of the true burden, and even more when the daytrippers from anywhere refuse to pay a cover charge just to look at Aquidneck Island. If no one thinks raytheon or others company's aren't watching this and discussing what they will do if these tolls are put in place is nuts, NO TOLLS its just 2 crazy

How could anyone think that Romney (that snake oil salesman) won last night. After listening to him you need to take a shower. He makes people feel slimy..................

Performances fairly even, but to me Romney's views make more sense than Obama's.

the monkey (speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil) with the big ears lost. how anyone can trust this lying despicable clown is way beyond me. how people can decide the presidency based on one litmus test, may it be abortion or contraception, i will never know. when the debt and mismanagement comes crushing nobody will have to worry about this stuff. the chinese abort all girls because they consider them non-productive, the chinese will give out all the contraception when their soldiers rape and bilfer the towns. general motors built plants in china with our money instead of in the usa and this lying sack of garbage obama with a smirk claims he can't do anything about the price of gas. who can afford the price of gas more the middle class or the rich?? this is a tax this baboon bestowed upon us. he gave 2 billion to brazil to drill for oil so we have to buy if from them. who is giving away special benefits??? he made such a joke out of the middle east, the arab spring has sprung and is a powder keg. obama murders our own border agents and amabassador by not controlling the situation

If your in the 2% Romneys views make sense. Tax rate cut for everyone then get rid of the deduction "loopholes" give me a break. The loopholes for the rich mean they wont collect as much on the interest from their dividens and the deductions the middle class and low income need are going to be wiped out so the 2% wont pay any extra under his tax plan and the middle class will end up paying more. Being middle class I cant get behind those kinds of views.

Not sure who won this debate but finally Romney lost me. His lack of core convictions has finally scared me away. Also his use of the Benghazi attach in such a political way disturbs me and frightens me and makes me think we will go back to the "Bush" foreign policy years. "Smoke em out" "Wanted dead or alive" ... When someone lacks conviction, it is hard to sell people on what they will do, really do, and not what they think people in front of them want to hear. This has dogged Romney in every election he has every run in, but this is the first time I have been asked to vote for him. Ultimately I have to say NO!!!

Romney is out of touch AND a liar. It's as though he was transported from the 1950's. Oh and he didn't ask for or develop that 'Binder full of women". Before he was even elected, a bipartisan group of women in MA formed MassGAP to address the problem of few women in senior leadership positions in state government. There were more than 40 organizations involved with the Mass Women's Political Caucus as the lead sponsor. They did the research and put together the binder of qualified women. They presented the binder to Romney after he was elected. Oh and the percentage of senior level appointed positions held by women actually declined through the Romney administration. It then began rapidly rising when Deval Patrick took office.

It is clear that Mitt Romney came to the debate with a plan and a proven record for the American future. President could not answer the questions, furthermore he could not escape his failed policies and record of driving us off a economic cliff!! Do we really think 4 more years of the same thing will help?
Albert Cabestany October 17, 2012 at 06:09 PM
You are factually correct on your statements, and you could go on to be a good debater, however, attacts of character on a personal level perhaps due to emotion will not help your case. Keep up the good work, without the emotion:)

@SHS Thank you for clarifying where that "binder of women" came from. More people need to hear about this! I feel sad for middle class Romney supporters. They don't realize they are being scammed. The only thing he cares about is WEALTH - primarily his own. Perhaps if people saw his real income tax returns they would see what a "patriot" he is. He is a draft dodger, a tax dodger, and a truth dodger. He has no personal convictions, so if he were to be elected, he would simply be a puppet for the GOP and do whatever Karl Rove and others tell him to do. The LAST thing these guys care about is the middle class!
