Man Struck By Government Vehicle On Newport Naval Base Dies
A man died last night after he was struck by a government vehicle on the Newport Naval Base Thursday.
A man died Thursday night after being struck by a government vehicle Thursday around 1 p.m., according to Lisa Rama, a spokeswoman for the Newport Naval Base. His name has not yet been released.
He was rushed to Newport Hospital and then transferred to Rhode Island Hospital, where he passed away at 10:15 p.m.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our colleague," said Rama.
The driver of the vehicle was a Department of the Navy employee assigned to a command on-board Naval Newport.
