Howington Won't be Middletown, Ohio, Manager After All

Meanwhile, the Newport City Manager could get her contract extended by one year here in Newport.

Newport City Manager Jane Howington won't be the city manager for Middletown, Ohio.

The City Council there appointed Doug Adkins, a local candidate, last week.

Howington was the runner up in a screening and interview process that took her to Middletown earlier this month where she told residents and officials there that her "vast array of experience" made her the best candidate, the Journal News reported.

But officials there opted for the home grown candidate, though Howington was a strong contender, according to reports

So what's next for Newport's city manager? Based on Wednesday night's City Council agenda, it looks like it could be at least one more year here in the City-by-the-Sea. The council will review a item that would extend her contract to Dec. 31 of 2015.
