Howington Resigns as Newport City Manager

Newport City Manager Jane Howington is reportedly resigning, several city officials confirmed Thursday night.

Howington did not give a reason for her resignation.

Several messages sent Thursday evening were not returned.

It is not clear when she will work her last day.

Howington was hired to lead Newport as City Manager about two years ago.

During that time, it's no secret she has regularly experienced friction with members of the City Council.

In recent months, Howington has been interviewing for manager jobs in Ohio and was a runner-up for a job in Middletown, Ohio last month.

She was out town for a few days earlier this month, though it's not clear if she was interviewing for another job.

We will have more information soon.

Shocking! Never saw that coming. What a bunch of chumps.

Wow, didn't see this coming. That is a good job. Don't tell me it's because of her friction with Mike Farley, who she has to see/hear comments from once a month. It's likely because the City's finances are much worse than the council lets on........ Get on a lifeboat before the ship sinks (see Angel Taveras)

She stayed too long, did nothing but hurt the city, and squeezed all the money out of her job that she could! Remember her big pay raise while other citizens and employees were hurting? As much as I dislike her and her management abilities, I am thankful that we "Officially" don't have the mayor as head of the city. (although he really is). The Moustache Monkey has to go next!

I'll take the job. I don't take orders. I have an irritating personality. And when it comes to my job, I'm kinda lazy. On a plus, the only thing that would make me move to Ohio is a zombie apocalypse or some sort of plague.

Due respect, Clean and Bill, but your knuckles are gettin' scraped up from dragging along the ground. Sorry, but hey.
