Fort Adams State Beach Park Reopened to Swimming

The state Health Department has lifted an advisory issued yesterday.

State health department officials recommended re-opening Fort Adams State Park Beach for swimming — just in time for Father's Day weekend.

The state Department of Health recommended the beach be closed to swimming on Thursday afternoon after water samples show bacteria counts above acceptable levels.

More recent tests show the bacteria levels are now within acceptable limits, prompting the health department to lift the closure recommendation in less than 24 hours.
