City Council to Vote on Graffiti Abatement Resolution

The proposed resolution directs the community to report graffiti to the Newport Police Department.

The Newport City Council will vote on a graffiti abatement resolution as proposed by councilor Naomi Neville during tonight’s council meeting.

The resolution, which refers to graffiti on both public and private property as “a source of consternation to both residents of the City of Newport and visitors,” calls upon anyone who has seen graffiti in the community to report it to the .

“. . . [T]he City relies on the eyes and ears of the residents to observe and report all such desecrations, but is aware that one might not know where to make notification,” the resolution reads.
