Work Progressing on Newport FD's New Engine 1

Delivery of the new engine is expected by late May or early June.

The newest addition to the Newport Fire Department's fleet is a new Engine 1 currently under construction at the KME Fire Apparatus Assembly Plant in Nesquehoning, Pa.

The Fire Department has been posing pictures of the new engine's progress on its Facebook page and today, the latest batch of pictures shows workers are making swift strides towards completion.

The expected completion date is between the third and fourth week of April. It will then be brought to Bull Dog Fire Apparatus, in Woodville, Mass., where it will be equipped with its remaining components.

The Fire Department expects to have the new Engine 1 on the road and by late may or Early June.
