Texas Man Returns to Newport to Thank NFD For Saving His Life

Jerry Jones of Texas said he is alive today because of the Newport Fire Department.

Last Christmas, a man received a gift so cherished, that he returned to Newport from his hometown of Fort Hood, Texas to say thank you.

While visiting his children in Newport, Jerry Jones took his seat in the pews at Emmanuel Church on December 22, 2012.  Shortly after, his heart stopped beating. He said the fire department's quick response is the reason he is alive today and is able to watch his 13 grandchildren grow up. To show his gratitude, Jones and his wife returned Newport to thank the Newport Fire Department for saving his life.

On Tuesday evening, he hugged the men that made his heart beat again. He gave them patches and hats from his hometown fire department as a token of his appreciation.
