The Newport Police Department had four new police recruits officially sworn in as Newport Police Officers by Chief of Police Gary T. Silva on May 27th, 2014 at Newport Police Headquarters. These officers had graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Training Academy on May 23rd.
The officers sworn into service are: Jason R. Roach, of Norwood, MA, previously serving as a district and regional manager in the automotive industry; Jared A. Johansen, of New Rochelle, NY, graduate of Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, with a dual minor in Spanish and Psychology; Michael W. Horn, of Hyannis, MA, graduate of Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice; and Caitlin C. Poplawski, of Hartford, CT, graduate of Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice.
