Police Seek Driver in Connection to Hit-and-Run Involving Child

Newport police seek information on a driver who allegedly hit an 11-year-old boy with his SUV Wednesday afternoon.

Newport police are asking for the public's help to find a driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that struck an 11-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, described as a white male, was driving a brown or gold SUV when he hit the child at the intersection of Kay Street and Everett Street around 3:30 p.m.

He left the area southbound on Kay Street, said police.

The child, who was walking home, sustained minor injuries.
