Police Log: Underage Possession, Assault, Juvenile Shoplifts at The Music Box

The following arrest reports were provided by Newport Police. They do not indicate a conviction.

UNDERAGE ALCOHOL
Police cited Jordan Romeo Kenny, 18, of Chadds Ford, Penn., with underage possession of alcohol Wednesday at 2:56 a.m.

Police said Kenny was stopped after an officer noticed his car had a broken license plate light and failed to use his turn signal while turning south onto Freebody Street from Memorial Boulevard.

Once stopped, police they found an open bottle of tequila and whiskey in his car as well as a small amount of marijuana that reportedly belonged to a juvenile who was issued a Rhode Island Traffic Court tribunal summons and released.

ASSAULT
Police charged Kevin P. Robbins, 49, of 20 Chapel St., Newport, with domestic simple assault and two warrants Wednesday at 12:34 a.m.

Police said they were dispatched to a Chapel Terrace address for a report of an assault.

Robbins allegedly struck a woman with an open hand and push her to the floor. He then picked her up by her clothes and threw her up against the front door, according to a police report.

It was later determined that Robbins had two active warrants.

He reportedly was combative and uncooperative while being processed at police headquarters. 

WARRANT
Police charged Joely Steve Page, 52, of 26 Middleton Ave., Newport, with a warrant May 27 at 6:34 p.m.

Police said Page was sitting on the wall in the Cumberland Farms parking lot on Broadway.

Police said the warrant was out of Providence for violating a protective order. 

SHOPLIFTING
A 13-year-old juvenile from Newport was charged with shoplifting Tuesday after he reportedly stuffed a pair of sunglasses into his pants at The Music Box on Thames Street.

Police said a store employee saw the juvenile with a pair of sunglasses in his hands go to the back of the store and come back moments later with nothing in his hands.

He then walked past the cash register, setting off the alarm. Once confronted, the juvenile reportedly pulled the sunglasses from the front his pants.

Police said the juvenile was booked and released to his mother. The matter will be adjudicated in Family Court. Anarchy Eyewear $35

VANDALISM
Police charged Stefon A. Douglas Jenkins, 23, of 18 John Chafee Blvd., Newport, with domestic vandalism on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Police said Stefon was wanted in connection with a May 17 incident during which he allegedly smashed a woman’s car window.
