Police Log: Man Caught with Stolen Coins at Coinstar

The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Dillon R. Adams, 19, of 20 Congdon Ave., Newport, was arrested around 9:07 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, for a receiving stolen goods charge.

Police responded to a breaking and entering report last November. The resident said a jar of quarters, totaling about $200, had been stolen.

Police later discovered surveillance footage of Dillon putting the money in a Coinstar machine, reports said.

Man charged with domestic vandalism charge 

Kenneth S. Brasher, 36, of Newport, was arrested around 9:39 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, for a warrant for domestic vandalism and domestic refusal to relinquish a telephone charges.

According to the victim, Brasher came to apartment to pick up his things. She had locked the door, but he forced it open and broke the chain lock, reports said. Reports also said Brasher punched a hole in the wall.

The woman said when she threatened to call police he took her phone away. 

Other arrests

  • Daniel J. O’Connell, 56, of 8 Tilley Ave., Newport, was arrested around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, for a DUI charge.
  • Brandon F. Jenkins, 23, of 23 Fillmore St., Newport, was arrested around 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, for a warrant for failure to appear in court.
