Police Log: DUI, Public Urination, Domestic

The following arrests were reported by Newport Police. They do not indicate a conviction.

DUI

Police charged Tiffany Leigh Borges, 25, of 15 Plymouth St., New Bedford, Mass., with driving under the influence and refusing a chemical test April 21 at 2:32 a.m.

Police said Borges was stopped after an officer on patrol saw her driving at a high rate of speed.

Police said she was driving about 50 mph in a 25 mph zone on Broadway.

Police said Borges failed a field sobriety test and told police she was drinking in New Bedford at a friends house.

DOMESTIC

Police charged Kevin Michael Hochstetler, 28, of 97 Narragansett Ave., Newport, with domestic simple assault and domestic vandalism April 19 at 11 p.m.

Police said they were dispatched to a city address for a report of a disturbance and took Hochstetler into custody after an investigation.

Police said Hochstetler twisted the arm of a victim after an argument. He also punched a hole in the wall.

URINATION

Police charged 45-year-old Craig Matthew Costa, of 72 Bedlow Ave., Newport, with public urination and carrying an open container April 21 at 10:22 p.m. after he was seen urinating on the east side of the Old Colony House by an officer on routine patrol.

Costa, who was carrying an open 24 ounce can of Four Loco, was reportedly apologetic but he was ordered to throw out his drink and given a May 19 court date for both violations.
