Newport Police Log: Woman Charged with Assaulting an Officer, 3 Other Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Brittany Barrett, 24, of 195 Admiral Kalbfus Rd., Newport, was arrested around 2:05 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, for an assault charge.
Police were dispatched to Festival Field for a report of two women fighting.
Barrett admitted to fighting, and during questioning, became aggressive with an officer, reports said.

She reportedly raised her hands to police, pushed against him and hit him in the arm.

Ulysses T. White, 23, of 18 Grafton St., Newport, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, for a vandalism charge.
Police were dispatched for a reported fight. When they arrived, White had cuts on his hand and there was a shattered glass window.
White admitted to punching the windows because he was having a panic attack.
Other arrests
- Jacob A. Tomkus, 35, of 271 Rogers Lane, Middletown, was arrested around 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, for an active warrant for failure to appear in court.
- Jennifer Heald, 32, of 3 Hall Ave., Newport, was cited on Friday, Sept. 21, for a noise violation.
