The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The man who reported the incident told police that he and Pereira had gotten into an argument and that she had broken his laptop.

According to reports, Pereira admitted to throwing and breaking his laptop because she did not want him to leave and drive drunk.

Pereira said “his whole life was on the computer” and that she didn’t think he would leave without it.
