Newport Police Log: Teen Charged with Crack Possession, Assault
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
A 16-year-old Newport boy was arrested around 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, for simple assault and crack cocaine possession charges.
Police were dispatched to Callendar Avenue for a reported fight. The woman at the residence said that two men had been fighting with each other.
Reports said she tried to break the two up when the 16-year-old pushed her out of the way and would not let her get to the phone.

Police located the boy and placed him under arrest.

George Collazo, 35, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, was arrested around 9:38 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, for an active warrant.
