Newport Police Log: Police Arrest Man Found Hiding in a Closet

The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Charles V. Parker, 24, of 414 Waterman Ave., East Providence, was arrested around 10:23 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, for two no contact order violations and a resisting arrest charge.

Police responded to a Maple Avenue residence to locate Parker, who had a 24-hour pickup for his arrest.

Parker was found hiding in the closet. Police had to use a taser to place Parker under arrest, reports said.

Other arrests

  •  A 16-year-old Newport girl was arrested around 3:49 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, for a domestic assault charge.
  • Steven A. Truss, 36, of 14 John Chafee Blvd., Newport, was arrested around 4:46 p.m. on Friday, for an active warrant.
  • Antonio A Watts, 21, of 109 John St., Fall River, was arrested around 1:15 a.m.  on Friday, Oct. 5, for first-offense DUI, driving without a license, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
