Newport Police Log: Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Warrant Arrests
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Victor Dasilva, 20, of 22 Cherry Lane, Tiverton, was arrested around 4:24 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, for a simple assault charge.
Dasilva reportedly spit on a nurse at Newport Hospital.
Reports said Dasilva was at the hospital for an evaluation and had not taken his medication.

Other arrests
- Samuel W. Whitemire, 37, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, was arrested around 9:24 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, for an active warrant for failure to appear in court for a bail hearing.
- Peter A. Maloney, 25, of Tiverton, was arrested around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, for a domestic disorderly charge.
