Newport Police: DUI, Bench Warrant
The following arrests were reported by the Newport police department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Newport police reported the following arrests on Monday, Jan. 13:
- Richard Grant, 51, 62 Malbone Road, was arrested Sunday at 1:37 a.m. on a driving under the influence charge. He was also cited with refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving with a suspended license. Police said he was pulled over for driving erratically on Spring Street. Police said he was visibly intoxicated and had slurred speech.
- John Clark, 7 Broadway, Apt #2, was arrested Monday at 1:30 a.m. on a bench warrant change. Police responded to 7-Eleven, at 95 Broadway St., for a report of a man passed out in the parking lot. Newport Fire Department transported Clark to Newport Hospital. When Clark was sober enough to answer questions and walk, he was processed for an existing bench warrant, said police.
