Middletown Police Seek Public's Help in Robbery Investigation

The robbery occurred Sunday during the hurricane at a pharmacy, one of the few businesses open in Middletown at the time.

The Detective Division continues to investigate a  that took place at a pharmacy during Hurricane Irene Sunday afternoon.

“Anyone with any information regarding the robbery, please contact the detective division,” Detective John Dring said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Sunday when a man allegedly walked into the store at Two-Mile Corner on East Main Road, demanded prescription drugs and fled with two bottles of Vicodin, according to a Middletown Police Department spokesman. The suspect told the clerk he was armed with a gun in his pocket but never showed a weapon, according to police.

Police who responded to the scene, assisted by State Police and Portsmouth Police Department officers, searched the area with negative results. One tip about a man matching the suspect's description in the shopping plaza near West Main Road and Valley Road also produced a search with no results, police confirmed.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, with scruffy hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a brown North Face jacket, hooded sweatshirt, and skateboard sneakers, police confirmed.

Police seek public’s help

  • Anyone with information or leads is asked to contact the Middletown Police Department Detective Division.
  • As the non-emergency lines remain inoperable due to hurricane damage, police ask that the public temporarily use the emergency line to reach police by calling 846-1104.
