Man Shot in Festival Field Apartment Complex, Police Seek Suspects

Newport Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to call detectives. The victim, 21, was shot in the leg and was treated at Newport Hospital.

Newport Police are looking for two and potentially more suspects involved in a shooting at the Festival Field Apartment complex on Monday.

Police said they got a 911 call from the Girard Avenue complex reporting a man had been shot.

Officers found a 21-year-old Newport man who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg.

The shooting was in building six and the victim was targeted, police said.

The victim was transported to Newport Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Lt. William Fitzgerald of Newport Police said in a release that the initial investigation "reveals two potential suspects with an ongoing police investigation to identify any additional suspect(s) in this non-random incident."

Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to call Newport Dets. Jason Kleinknecht and Danny Turmel with information at 401-845-5764 or 401-845-5767.

Police have not identified any suspects at this time.
