Man Dies after Truck Fire

The victim was 33 and police said the fire does not appear suspicious.

One man is dead after a fire in a truck in which he was reportedly seeking shelter.

The victim was 33-years-old.

Firefighters reported they responded to a report of smoke at the Andrews Express and Storage Warehouse on Fir Street at around 11:30 p.m. and found a truck on fire.

Firefighters said the fire appears to have started accidentally, but no cause was given. 

The fire started inside the truck and the man was rushed to Newport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, confirmed Newport Police Lt. William Fitzgerald.

The fire is not considered suspicious, Fitzgerald said.
