Man Dies after Truck Fire

The victim was 33 and police said the fire does not appear suspicious.

One man is dead after a fire in a truck in which he was reportedly seeking shelter.

The victim was 33-years-old.

Firefighters reported they responded to a report of smoke at the Andrews Express and Storage Warehouse on Fir Street at around 11:30 p.m. and found a truck on fire.

Firefighters said the fire appears to have started accidentally, but no cause was given. 

The fire started inside the truck and the man was rushed to Newport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, confirmed Newport Police Lt. William Fitzgerald.

The fire is not considered suspicious, Fitzgerald said.

I will forever remember you ...your boyish good looks, winning smile & attitude..you were a peacemaker at times amoung the group of friends...other times very mischievous..you made me laugh and ponder and I sensed hope in yourself..you got work and were trying to make the ends meet..you never gave up trying..you were so determined and given work you took to it with serious pride.!..GOD BLESS Mike"s Family esp. his mom and sister..I know this you are in dark sad days..he mentioned you with joy on many occasions for all you did..mostly ..the LOVE....please. if you are having services..let the director of 15 Meeting St.know? There will be a candlelight vigil in Eisenhower park Friday the 25 of april. I hope all that knew and loved boston mike will please attend.
