Man Arrested For Felony Sex Assault

The following arrests were reported by the Newport and Middletown Police Departments. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  • Donel Pemberton, 26, of 90 Girard Ave. Apt. #204 was arrested Tuesday on a felony first degree sexual assault charge. Police were called to Festival Field Apartments after a 27-year-old woman called to report she had been assaulted. She told police he asked to come up for a drink. He allegedly went into the bathroom after her, locked the door and sexually attacked her. She told police she struggled, attempted to dial 911, but he knocked the phone out of her hand. She reportedly told him she would comply if he used protection, and convinced him to leave to get a condom. When he left, she locked the door and called police. 

  • Trevon Miller, 20, 143 Third St. Apt. #3L, was arrested on Monday around 9:45 a.m. on a disorderly charge. His mother allegedly called police because he threw an umbrella at her and did not want to go to work due to the rain.

  • Daniel McCarthy, 21, of 195 Admiral Kalbfus Rd. #11C was arrested on Monday around 1:33 a.m on a driving under the influence charge. He was also cited with refusal to submit to a chemical test. When pulled over, he allegedly said, “to tell you the truth...” but did not elaborate. 

  • Jose Gomez, 34 of 16 Brimley St. Apt. 1 Newport, was arrested Monday by the Middletown Police Department around 1:07 a.m. on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic vandalism. He allegedly shoved a 39-year-old Middletown woman into a wall.

  • Michael Adolfo, 26, of 431 Pine St., Providence was arrested Monday on a bench warrant charge.
