Man Arrested For Counterfeit Money (Again)

The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Police reportedly found fake $20 bills on a man who was arrested in April for manufacturing counterfeit money and using the fake money around Aquidneck Island.

Around 1 a.m., Newport police were called to the Pineapple Inn to check on an individual who might had fallen off a bicycle. Michael Martin, 34, 372 Coddington Hwy. Apt #109 and Daniel Spearin, 36 of an unknown address, were near a bicycle, but neither had injuries, said police.

A search turned up both men had active warrants for failure to appear to court. During processing, police found three counterfeit $20 bills in Spearin's pocket. Spearin was charged with possession of a counterfeit bill and two warrants.  Martin was charged for the two warrants.
